STUDY DAY:  THE MARKET FOR MODERNISM
Friday, December 16, 2011, 11:00am to 5:00pm, NYC

Organized by Kate Carmel, AAA, this intensive one-day seminar designed for the generalist and specialist decorative arts appraiser ties in with the sale of Important 20th Century Decorative Art & Design at Christie's on December 17 and with the exhibition Crafting Modernism: Midcentury American Art and Design 1945-1969 at the Museum of Arts & Design. Join Christie's 20th Century Design Specialist for a tour of the upcoming sale of Important 20th Century Art & Design and discuss current marketplace issues including interest and sales. After a group lunch, at 1:00pm we'll begin the panel discussion with leading experts in the field. To wrap up this Study Day, Jeannine Falino, Co-Curator of Crafting Modernism, will lead us through the exhibition where issues discussed throughout the day will be highlighted using examples from the exhibition.

Topics include:

  • Studio Jewelry with Gloria Lieberman
