Join us on Monday, May 5th for Mark M. Topalian’s lecture on Oriental carpets. Mr. Topalian will begin by introducing how a rug is woven and what materials are used. He will discuss important characteristics that determine value in an Oriental rug, specifically as they relate to collectible rugs and decorative carpets. Finally, Mr. Topalian will comment on the record-breaking prices recently realized for classical carpets from the 16th and 17th centuries in auction. A question and answer session will follow.
 


Kindly RSVP in advance. No payments will be accepted at the door; all reservations must be made prior to the lecture 
(no later than Tuesday, April 29th).
