Join the Appraisers Association and Dick Colberg, AAA, for an in-depth seminar helping to answer the complex question, “My client wants a stamp collection appraised. Now what do I do?” Mr. Colberg will address the following:
What to do and what to look for after you first walk in the door.
How to separate the elements of the collection into segments worth spending time on and those that are not.
The philatelic jargon (so you can walk the walk and talk the talk)!
The appropriate materials, philatelic libraries, and philatelic auctions to consult for reference as well as where to go for expertization services.
Fakes and forgeries.
Standard collections, specialty collections, and exhibit collections.
Appropriate market places for disposing of a collection.
PLUS: Corey Long, Vice-President of Siegel Auctions in New York City, will discuss what Siegel Auctions can do for the appraiser, in addition, of course, to eventually selling the collection or parts of it. Siegel archives its past sales as well as prices realized. The archives are also searchable by the catalogue number of the stamp. Mr. Long will also bring a supply of auction catalogues for attendees.
