New York City is home to a multitude of world class art libraries, several of which provide extensive resources of particular interest to fine and decorative arts appraisers. This year’s Research Workshop will begin at one of the real gems: the Frick Art Reference Library. Kerry Sullivan, Acting Head of Photoarchive, will present a discussion of the Frick’s very special photographic archive. Suz Massen, Chief of Public Services, will follow with an overview of the Library’s extensive holdings of resources of interest to appraisers and other art market researchers.  In the afternoon session, held at NYU’s Bobst Library, Clayton Kirking and Tom McNulty will demonstrate some of the latest digital “discovery tools” in relation to more traditional subject-based indexing and full-text databases. A hands-on database-searching workshop will follow. Please bring your broad-based research interests and questions. A main objective of the program is for you to leave with a wide array of resources, and some new skills that will help you to remain au courant in your subject areas of expertise.
