Taught by an Appraisers Association member, the online Theory and Methodology course is online in real time. The exam is administered during class on the last day, via the online classroom. Topics covered in the course include:
- The Appraisal Assignment, such as Assignment Conditions and Defining the Scope of Work
- Valuation Considerations, such as Purpose of the Appraisal, Approaches and Types of Values, Marketplace as well as Support for Valuation Conclusions
- Legal and Other Considerations, such as the Appraiser’s Responsibility to Client, Appraiser as Fiduciary? Appraiser as Authenticator? Appraiser’s Responsibilities on IRS Forms, IRS Consequences for Grossly Over or Under Evaluations
- Appraisal Terminology / Definitions
Access to a computer with a microphone, speakers and strong Internet connection is required. A headset is strongly recommended.
