AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION
The AAA has 14 main areas of specialization to help you sort through the international database of over 700 members. These are:

  2. Asian Art
  3. Automobiles Aeronautical and Machinery
  4. Books and Manuscripts
  5. Collectibles and Memorabilia
  6. Fine Art
  7. Furniture and Decorative Arts
  8. Gems and Jewelry
  9. Judaica
  10. Household Contents
  11. Musical Instruments
  12. Photographs
  13. Popular Culture
  14. Wine

When an appraiser applies for status as a "Member" of the AAA they must select one main area of specialization to apply in; after that, if they want to further establish themselves as professionals and become the highest level of members, they can apply to become a "Certified Member." During the process of becoming a "Certified Member," the Member must pass several advanced courses in appraising as well as an exam in each area that they would like to become "Certified" in.
