Arte Povera received renewed interest in 2017
with the fiftieth anniversary of art critic GermanoArte Povera
Celant’s seminal essay, Arte Povera: Notes for
a Guerrilla War. This lecture will provide historical
overview and examine Arte Povera’s critical reception
in the United States, contextualizing it among other
international Post-War movements. Market prices
and important auctions will be discussed, as well as
conservation, authentication, and export issues.

Gabriella Perez is dedicated to the care, presentation,
and documentation of modern and contemporary art.
She has a broad background working for museums,
galleries, and private collections.


She earned her BA in Art History from the American
University of Paris where she was immersed in the
art and culture of Europe. She completed her graduateGabriella Perez
studies at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University
focusing her research on twentieth-century art and
conservation. She has held research positions at
the Menil Collection, The Museum of Modern Art,
and Michael Rosenfeld Gallery, among other institutions.
Gabriella joined Magazzino Italian Art in 2016 where she
is responsible for the management of the Olnick Spanu
Collection, as well as facilitating all outgoing loans
and offsite exhibitions.


Gabriella is an Associate of the Appraisers Association
of America, and an active member of ArtTable and the
Association of Registrars & Collections Specialists.
