Kenneth Jay Lane once said, “Wearing costume jewelry is like wearing glass slippers. You can feel like you’re going to the ball, even if you’re not.” Join Bella Neyman, curator, jewelry historian, and founder of NYC Jewelry Week for a crash course on costume jewelry. The glitz, the glamour, the technological breakthroughs, and the connection to Hollywood and beyond. A 60-minute lecture focusing on prominent names in costume jewelry, Bakelite, jewelry produced for fashion houses, major centers for the production of costume jewelry, as well as materials, techniques, and the marketplace.
