Has the Media Art Market Finally Arrived? How did the pandemic fast forward the art world’s embrace of technology, NFTs and digital art? This is a period of incredible artistic innovation for art created with technology. We can think of Media Art as a large umbrella that includes Digital and Video Art, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, GAN, Animation, Net Art, Generative and Custom-Software-Based Art as well as early experimental video and computer-based art. Before the pandemic, the art world lagged in its adoption of technology until they realized they needed to reach art collectors at home and quickly developed new online and screen-based solutions. Suddenly video and digital art were included in online viewing rooms and with the dawn of NFTs, has Media Art finally arrived? Recently with some of the top art prizes, such as the Turner Prize and Golden Lion going to video artists, many collectors are looking to include video and digital art in their collections. In this live webinar, we will discuss the impact of recent events on the market for Media Art as well as review what to look for when appraising these works.
