Nicholas M. Dawes, AAA, has over thirty-five years of experience as an auction professional, antiques dealer, author and lecturer, and is considered this country’s leading expert on the work of Rene Lalique (1860-1945). He is a former department head and auctioneer at Phillips and Sotheby’s in New York, and currently Vice President at Heritage Auctions. He curated the critically acclaimed traveling museum exhibition Lalique: A Century of Glass for a Modern World, is the author of four standard works on decorative arts and has been a faculty member at Parsons, the New School for Design, since 1984. Dawes has appeared regularly as an expert appraiser on Antiques Roadshow for PBS since the first season.
