Take advantage of this exclusive walk with Outsider art expert Outliers and American Vanguard Art, curated by Lynne Cooke, features 250 works by schooled and unschooled artists organized in three sections chronologically from 1920s until 2013. The perspective of appraisers will be informed by a discussion of our entrenched categorizations and judgments of relative artistic merit in the context of the exhibition's pairings of the academic and the eccentric. Ms. Harris will provide commentary on the increasing appeal and market value of the Outsider field; key Outsider artists in the exhibition; the medium in which they commonly work and the characteristics of value. Attendees are encouraged to bring their questions about the changing market for Outsider art and the leading players in the field, both galleries and auction. The program will wrap up with a Q&A with Marion Harris over coffee should interest continue.
