Abby Taylor, Taylor | Graham, will discuss a critical time for appraisers in a market that is seeing not slight changes but major changes in how works of art will be valued in the upcoming years. The focus will be on sculpture and challenges of evaluating editioned works, rare works that have little reference points and works that have fallen from favor. The steps an appraiser should take in today’s market to properly evaluate and tackle the tricky and singular issues that sculpture presents. Sculpture is one of the sectors of the art market that has little expertise so we will address how an appraiser can go about putting a value to a work when it is difficult to even discern what and when and how many there are of that piece. There will be additional commentary on software platforms that are being introduced into the market that will be attempting to give “Real Time Evaluations” and how this effects an appraiser’s job.

Abby M. Taylor is a second generation art dealer who credits a large part of her knowledge to her father, Donald Purdy. In  1989 she opened The Greenwich Gallery with Vincent Vallarino and spent 17 years building a solid business in American and European paintings. In 2003, Taylor established a sculpture division with the goal to be a prominent dealer in museum quality American and European sculpture. In 2006 she opened Abby M. Taylor Fine Art LLC across the street from her old location.  They have a global business with many of our sales occurring outside the United States. Taylor's primary achievement is her longstanding client relationships.
