What are the current auction house policies versus law? How does that affect value?

This webinar will provide you with a basic overview of the antiquities market, the categories involved, and the complex issues associated with collecting, owning, appraising and selling ancient works of art. Ms. Limmer will bring her experience of two decades in the antiquities market, and with special attention to navigating the intricacies unique to this eld, interspersed with amusing anecdotes and fun facts.

Molly Morse Limmer, AAA has worked in the art world for two decades. She spent her first 17 years with Christie’s flagship offices in New York where she served as Vice President, Senior Specialist and Department Head for Antiquities. During her tenure as Department Head, Molly worked with countless clients in acquiring, selling, evaluating, cataloguing, transporting, insuring, displaying, storing and adoring works of art. Limmer led the Antiquities Department to successfully achieving several world records at auction for ancient works of art, including presiding over and wielding the gavel for the sale of the Schuster Master Cycladic Marble Reclining Female Figure which sold for $16,800,000 in December 2010. For over 12 years, Limmer served as one of Christie’s prestigious auctioneers— and one of its few female auctioneers—for public sales and charity auctions. Molly Morse Limmer holds an M.A. in Greek and Roman art from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London and a B.A. in Classics and Art History from Brown University. She studied at the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome. In March, 2016, Limmer transformed her love for art and her profound knowledge of the industry to launch 2050 Art Services as the premiere art and antiquities consultancy in America.
