Strengthen Your Knowledge Registration Closes Thursday, June 21 The role of the generalist appraiser carries perhaps the most difficult responsibilities of any appraiser. Generalists need to know something about everything and also know when to call in an expert. The best generalists have a broad scope of knowledge and a great ability to research. This program is geared to the appraiser wanting to strengthen his or her proficiency as a generalist and for those who are preparing to take the Household Contents Certification exam. Appraisers with other areas of expertise may also be interested in taking this class to broaden and/or enhance their knowledge base in order to add Household Contents to their repertoire of appraisal skills. Through peer review led by the instructor, this eight-session online class will cover areas that a generalist appraiser frequently encounters, including aspects of fine art, antiques, prints, carpets, jewelry, wine and collectibles. This course takes place online on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5-8 PM, beginning on Tuesday, July 10 and ending on Thursday, August 2. Participants will use the GoToTraining online platform, and are required to have a working headset- microphone and speaker. A knowledge of Powerpoint is required for assignments and presentations. This course includes assignments to be completed prior to the start of class. After registering, the instructor will email students their assignment, which will take approximately 10-20 hours of preparation prior to the start of the class. Attendees will present their completed assignments during the course. All attendees will be emailed the presentations at the completion of the course.
Attendance: Students are required to participate in at least 4 of the sessions. All sessions will be recorded and available to view after each class. Note: The certification exam is not part of this class. Those interested should contact Johanna Levy, Membership Manager, to discuss eligibility and to schedule a date to take the exam. 21 CE Credits FEE: $350 Members; $425 General Admission All cancellations must be made prior to June 10, 2018 to receive a full refund. Cancellations made between June 10 and June 26 will be refunded 50%. No refunds will be given after June 26, 2018.
