Frank Born has been a private dealer since 1987, specializing in Post-War and Contemporary Art. His institutional clients include The Art Institute of Chicago, The J. Paul Getty Museum, The Seattle Art Museum, The Albright-Knox Art Gallery, and The Israel Museum, Jerusalem. In 2017 his firm, Frank Born Arts, added appraisal services and litigation consultation to its list of services. Mr. Born has a BA degree from Duke University and pursued graduate art history studies at Washington University in St. Louis.

Tom Lecky has over 22 years of experience appraising, advising, and selling books and manuscripts at all levels of the market. Tom is the former Head of Christie’s Books & Manuscripts Department. He joined Christie’s as Vice President and Specialist in Printed Books in 1999. In 2006, Tom was named Head Department in North America and was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2014. Tom has extensive experience in all fields of books and manuscripts, with particular strengths in the fields of science and technology, travel, exploration and historical Americana, as well as English and American literature. Prior to joining Christie’s, Tom served as Director of the Books & Prints Departments at William Doyle Galleries in New York, and was also one of the firm’s principal auctioneers.

Kenneth Linsner attended graduate school at the Institute of Fine Arts of NYU as well
as the Conservation Center of the Institute. He is a prominent forensic appraiser and has testified in all major courts. While qualified in Books and Manuscripts he handles all forensic matters and acts as a source for attorneys involved with fine arts in divorce, estate and insurance cases. 
 
Betsy Thomas, AAA

Betsy Thomas founded Betsy Thomas Fine Art Advisory, LLC in January 2008 to provide discreet and highly personalized advisory services. Ms. Thomas began her career in 1996 at Christie’s in New York, holding various positions as researcher, cataloguer and proposal writer in several departments including Old Master Paintings & Drawings, Prints, Impressionist & Modern Art and 19th Century European Art. Her longest tenure in the company was as Specialist and Vice President in the 19th Century European Paintings Department, a position she held for seven years. In this role, she managed high value appraisals and sale consignments working directly with private collectors, museums and estates. Ms. Thomas holds a B.A. in the History of Art from Pomona College and an M.A. in Renaissance Studies from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. She is fluent in Italian and particularly well-versed in various periods of Italian 19th Century and 20th Century Modern Masters.

Lara Hillman has over twenty years of experience in the art world, which informs her evaluations of American and European fine art, furniture, and decorative art items.  She has worked in auction houses (Christies, Sotheby’s, Litchfield County Auctions, and Weschler’s), galleries (Spanierman Galleries, and Ian Peck Fine Paintings), a private collection (Art Science Research Laboratory’s Marcel Duchamp collection), and a sculpture restoration studio (Matthew Hanlon Restoration).  Lara Hillman is a member of the Connecticut Historical Society’s Collection Steering Committee.  She received a Master’s from Christie’s Education in London, and completed NYU’s Appraisal Studies.

Calvin Kerr comes to the AAA with over 20 years experience in the piano industry. After 13 years at Steinway & Sons (NYC) as Manager of Institutional Sales and then moving over to the Retail Department (with over 10,000 pianos inspected during his tenure at Steinway), Calvin is now an independent piano consultant which includes piano sales in addition to his appraising. He has extensive knowledge of Steinway and other high end brand pianos. With a BA in Music and an MBA, and additional experience with orchestra and band management, Calvin brings a unique and varied background to the appraising field.
