With over 40 years experience, including 12 years at Christies NY photography department, my knowledge of fine-art photographs is based on a solid grounding of the following for photographers: typical usage of processes, timeline of credit stamps, authentic signatures, predominant style, recognized level of marketplace stature, record prices, relevant comparables, and a proficiency in identifying and dating various paper stocks and mounting materials - all crucial to accurate reporting. Other areas of appraising include photographic materials: ephemera, archival documents/records or fonds, as well as related rare books.
