Attendees will be presented with practical examples of documents and processes to make the business side of their practice a little less daunting, including a business plan outline, a sample insurance application, the process to create an LLC, website development options and accounting software packages. With a 38-year career in financial management, planning and analysis in the non-profit and public sectors, Arlene served as the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Amtrak, Chief Financial Officer of the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority, Chief Financial Officer of a 501(c)(3), and the Deputy Director of Finance for the City of Philadelphia. She co-founded an independent financial and strategic consulting firm, VantagePoint Associates, Inc. where she developed strategic plans; prepared performance, condition and organizational assessments; performed financial analyses; and drafted presentations and reports for Boards of Directors, legislative bodies, administrative executives, potential investors and insurance companies. Arlene attended Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government Program for Senior Executives in State & Local Government and the University of Pennsylvania for a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. She received the Women’s Transportation Seminar Distinguished Achievement Award, the U.S. Government Finance Officers Association’s Award for Excellence and the Central Philadelphia Development Corporation’s Outstanding Municipal Service Award.
