Explore how conservation affects the work of appraisers! This study day will take you on a tour of three premier conservation studios in New York City: Modern Art Conservation, The Better Image, and Alvarez Fine Art Services. Each studio focuses on conservation and restoration of different media: paintings, photography, and paper, respectively.

During the studio visits you will have the opportunity to:

  • View case studies and before & after examples
  • See demonstrations of different processes & treatments
  • Learn differences between conservation & restoration
  • Tackle diminution of value
  • Have Q&A with the conservators and their teams
  • Learn what to look  for when you’re on-site 
  • Discuss when to call a conservator and what conservators need from you

Members earn 5.25 CE credits.
