Taught by Appraisers Association Certified Member and Immediate Past President Cynthia Herbert, AAA, the online Theory and Methodology course takes place online in real time. The course includes an exam that is administered during the last day of class via the online classroom platform. This course will give you the essential framework of personal property appraisal and discuss important issues in the field. You will study the different kinds of appraisals (estate tax, insurance, charitable contributions, and equitable distribution), examine different types of value and evaluation approaches used in appraisal reports, and look at markets and the varieties of property most often appraised. Other topics include appraisal terms and definitions, client relations, industry standards and codes of ethics, and establishing a practice. Attendance is mandatory at all 4 classes. If you are not able to attend one of the class meetings, please transfer to another session of this course.
